After its completion in 2022, the animated film 'I Saw A Ghost and It Was Beautiful' embarked on several film festival this year. To date, the film 'I Saw A Ghost and It Was Beautiful' has been successfully nominated for the National Competition at Minikino Film Week 9 in Bali and received a Special Jury Mention. Furthermore, the film has been selected as an Official Selection at the 2023 Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland. This is the reason why UMN Pictures is motivated to produce other works, considering that animation for us has freedom of expression, and the medium used is freer. Kemal Hasan, a producer said, "This is inseparable from how we not only want to convey our 'statement', but also through our visual expression. And most importantly, films are essential cultural products, and we eager to introduce the world about the cultural expression of Indonesian animated film. The film ‘I Saw a Ghost and It Was Beautiful’, we aimed for that.”

As director and writer of the film, 'I Saw A Ghost and It Was Beautiful', Bobby Fernando said that he was interested in the concept of 'ghosts'. In a fictional context, Bobby views it as a narrative element with flexible visual qualities that can be shown to convey a specific story, history, or theme. Then, he poured it with surrealist art inspired by Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, and Max Ernst. Bobby wanted to take a visual approach that was able to display work that had strong visual appeal with an abstract approach, but at the same time was intimate; looks foreign and has roots in a human perspective and spirit this approach aligned perfectly with his exploration of the genre concept that he want to carry out. The film 'I Saw A Ghost and It Was Beautiful' carries an implicit theme related to the "pandemic.". According to the director himself, the increasing number of cases involving abusive treatment faced by workers in various fields from corporations, or other large agencies, did not only occur during the pandemic. This perspective serves as a solid and relevant foundation for a story idea he had since 2019. The process of development this film serves as a platform for director to reflect about his relationship with the topic to reflect on his relationship with the topic, "is this idea based on a genuine sense of solidarity, or is this just an outlet for frustration, or personal difficulties that I feel in life?".
